Health and Retirement Study
The Health and Retirement Study (HRS) has surveyed more than 30,000 Americans over the age of 50 and their spouses or partners since 1992. Biennial waves collect information on income, work, assets, pension plans, health insurance, disability, physical health and functioning, and health-care expenditures. The HRS now collects biological markers and, through a self-completed mail survey, information on consumption. It also offers links to Social Security and Medicare records. Self-completion surveys are included in the core survey years.
